hard drive speed

Speeding up your hard drive We all want faster computer and speeding up your hard drive might just be your solution to this matter. In this tip we will take a look how can you speed up you hard drive in windows Vista. First find system settings and open section "Device Manager". Here use right click on one of our hard drives (if you have more then one) and select "Properties".

Now select section "Policies" and mark "Enable advanced performance". With this setting we've accomplished that our hard drive is working in "Write-back", in which are all informations that are being written on disc or being read from disc but first they are saved in cache for later use.

When possibllity Enable advanced performance is not enabled, disc works in Write-Through. Here all informations that are read and written are being written directly to the disc. Because the cache is faster from hard drive it is better to use Write-Back. But there is also a minor problem.

If there is a power shortage while we use computer all the data in cache will be lost. So the Enable advanced performance is recommended only for users which use UPS.
